Riad Dar Balthazar - Marakeş

Friendly staff, lovely room, and amazing roof top terrace to soak up the sun. Air conditioning in the bedroom

The only one thing I will say is the place is not the easiest to find despite the hotel sending us a map prior to arrival! We had to pay a local 20 MAD to show us,

The Riad staff were great, nothing was to much trouble. You will be amazed when you go through the little wooden door, from a alleyway into a peaceful and tranquil setting.

Nothing much, bit difficult to find without a map maybe a bit more hot water at night in the bathroom.

although on the website it says it has a pool, when we arrived there was no pool. This needs to be updated on their website as it can be misleading.

As was stated by other reviews Dar Balthazar was a pleasant sanctuary. It was very peaceful and serene with plenty of space to relax. Our suite was very spacious with good storage, locking doors and private bathroom and shower area. Once inside it was very quiet and private. The breakfast was very tasty and served to us in our sitting room. We would absolutely stay here again. It was a great stay and the staff were pleasant.

As with all Ryads and guest houses in Marrakesh it was a bit of a challenge to locate. We were a bit disappointed that neither the fountain nor the pool were functional. We were not able to connect to the internet although that said we did not ask about it beyond trying to find a connection.

Location is great! Easy to get to considering it is inside the Medina. Riad is gorgeous, room was gorgeous and spacious, all was clean, breakfast was very nice and staff was fabulous - especially Rashid and his eager smile. Another 'plus' for us was the fact that we could get a beer in our room or up on the terrace - which we did every night! If no one offers, just ask. It's not on the menu, but is available.

Our room was directly above the street/alley and the neighbors liked their television waaay loud! Also, the kids played (loudly) in the street until about 11pm. We were glad we had our earplugs. I'm guessing the other rooms didn't have that issue. Also, our A/C unit was not working. Was only a slight problem as it wasn't that hot (late April). Would be a serious problem if it had been later in the season. All in all, though, we loved the place! And highly recommend it. We stayed in Riads all over Morocco and this was one of our favorites.

We enjoyed our stay at Dar Balthazar immensely. We loved the peace and beauty of the courtyard, and the riad was clean, charming and well organised. The Manager, Mme Nadia, was excellent and spoke very good English, was flexible and friendly with a good sense of humour and nothing was too much trouble for her. She was able to answer all our questions about practical matters in Marrakech. The Night Manager, Ibrahim, was also very helpful and pleasant. We ate at the riad several times and the food was exceptional. One of the things we appreciated was to be able to have wine with dinner and in the courtyard, which wasn´t possible in our second riad.

The only negative thing was that the bedroom, though attractive, was a little small for two people, but would be perfect for one.

Nice location, beautiful condition and decoration of the whole riad. Extremely charming.

Room was a bit small (we had a standard room, not a suite). But everything was so lovely that it didn't matter!

Good location: close to a well known taxi stop, Dar el Bacha, so it's easy for the taxi drivers to deliver passengers very close to the riad.Very pleasant and helpful staff.

The bed had a plastic undersheet which made for uncomfortably hot sleeping and heat rash.The wifi internet connection worked only in the courtyard; not in the room.

The rooms were beautifully decorated and spacious, the staff were friendly/helpful, and it was a fairly easy walk from the taxi stop. They will even bring you a can of beer if you ask for it (not included in rate) which is nice after a smoking hot Marrakech afternoon spent getting lost in the souks.

The staff are wonderful and the Riad is a lovely peaceful escape in crazy Marrakesh, also breakfast on the terrace is fantastic.

It is a magical oasis of calm. Very friendly, welcoming, clean and you are looked after very well. We stayed in the Balthazer Suite and it was charming.

It was like walking into an oasis of calm from the bustling streets of Marrakech. The courtyard and the rooms were very tasteful and relaxing. The staff were friendly and helpful without being over bearing.
